I think that what I have to offer at WordWorks for speech and language therapy services is exciting and personal. I have developed a private practice to provide comprehensive speech and language services for children and their families. I have extensive experience with evaluation, treatment, and therapeutic intervention for children from birth to three years of age. We have been successful working with children with both moderate and severe articulation and language issues. A critical component of therapy and successful treatment revolves around the education of parents as to how to facilitate improved speech and language skills for their children. I sincerely believe that one on one therapy with an experienced therapist who takes the time to teach parents the skills to understand their child’s communication needs is the most essential part of my practice. I have excellent diagnostic skills and will help you to evaluate what is interfering with the development of your child’s speech and language.
The second important part of my work history was working for ten years with children on the Spectrum of Autism. I have developed and recommended augmentative communication systems which have improved behavioral challenges and increased verbal communication. I am willing to advocate for parents and work together to decide which approach works best for their individual families.
I am currently licensed to provide the Lindamood Phoneme Sequencing Program for Reading, Spelling, and Speech. In addition to the Visualizing and Verbalizing program for Language Comprehension and Thinking, by Nanci Bell. I have used both of these programs successfully with children in grade school through high school with dyslexia and reading delays.
